Going international

I've discovered from my trusty Blog Tracker thingamajig that my blog's been visited by people from halfway around the world. Lets see. There's Australia, US, England, France, Turkey, Sweden, Qatar, Netherlands, Japan, Iran, Hong Kong, Germany, Chile and finally, United Arab Emirates!

Waaay cool, right?

And it also tells me that 36 nosey-parkers have come from Hidayah's Blog. 22 kaypohs from Ke Hua's Blog. 19 Blog-hoppers from Karen's and Kenneth Yau's and finally, 16 pipper from Cheryl-my-foreplay-partner's site.

Of course, there are many many others from others' blogs and sites from all around. Hahaha. I actually can know these things, so its pretty interesting.

Okays. So these are my few updates on a warm Sunday night. I think I shall blog more since I've just celebrated Jia Yu's 16th Birthday. Maybe later lah.

Andre hates

  • People who irritate me all the time
  • People who pester me incessantly
  • People who just don't see my point
  • People who insist they're right
  • People who seem to have all the free time in the world
  • People who can't stop it even though I've told them to 174392 times
  • People who knock on my room door multiple times. Like they even have to. And please, once will do, I'm right here okay

Then again, who in the world likes this kinda people? Think about it, are you one of them?

Teacher's Night

That very day of Racial Harmony, we had a concert organised and performed by our very own teachers in aid of the school building fund next year. I had lotsa fun and I think the 10 bucks spent on the ticket was more than worth it. It's extremely rare to be able to see your most/least favourite hamming it up on stage, willing to do anything and everything you never ever thought they'd do!

I won't be posting up pictures 'cos the shots turned out really blurry amidst all the commotion, and I forgot to turn on the flash! I usually shoot without the flash because I prefer the natural light, but its really such a shame, I didn't expect the lighting to be that bad, lah. Ahhhh.

I'm sure those who went did enjoy themselves thoroughly. And those vivid images of our teachers singing/dancing/jiggling/prancing would forever be etched in our minds! But back in school on Monday, the crazy antics of our teachers simmered down and we all pretended nothing happened at all.

Seven months without you

You're coming back to Singapore, tomorrow!

Life without you for the past seven months? One less person to poke fun at, one less person to bitch with, one less food fanatic to whollup food with, one less person to be around.

To put it simply, one less of seven. That makes six. But it'd b
e seven once more, in a few hours time! I can't wait.

Of Chemistry, the Spoiler

Racial Harmony Day still must do Chem Practical... *Insert string of Hokkien expletives* What a spoiler man...

What did I say we looked like?

We looked out of place. Some manic ancient chemists stuck in the present?

That Lay Untouched...

The last gear shifts,
the clock strikes twelve,
From under the thick mist
We lose ourselves.

With one last breath
she slips away
Captured by death
We lose our way.

The pain surging through
each inch, each vein
I stuggle to let loose
each clot, each pain

You never know,
you never will.

The Absence

Well, I was planning on adding another entry after that dian wei post there. Had something in mind, some entry that'd explain my own heritage and how some people just mistaken me for a non-Chinese, but then I got a message on my phone, delivering some unfortunate news. So I gave him a call just to check if everything was okay. I mean, I knew things weren't going exactly smoothly, but something triggered me to just want to call to find out. To comfort him and just hear his voice. So I did that, and by the time I hung up, I was too traumatised to even continue blogging. So that post would have to wait for some other time then...

The week's been really hectic. Tiring, but fun. Hidayah and I went to his grandma's wake to pay our respects, and to check up on our old friend. We got the see the funeral rites and all that, and Hidayah and I just talked 'bout lotsa stuff. I was glad he looked alright, albeit a tad tired and gaunt, but I hope I really did give him some comfort and concern. I mean, its really in tough times like these that people get thrown into their most vulnerable states and you just gotta be there even if it doesn't seem like you're helping much.

The funeral set me thinking. Why do humans have to wait for these circumstances, then they decide to feel bad and regret their own actions? For instance, personally, I felt I've neglected some close ones and elders, and its not a good thing lah of course, it really made me wanna appreciate things and people around me more. But why? Why did I have to wait till the death of someone else to realise this? Why? Maybe I'm just such a sucker.

Okay, so that was Tuesday night. Since then, I've not been having the time to really sit down and blog. I went to the Esplanade on Thursday, had Racial Harmony on Friday and also a Teachers' Concert that Friday night in Dunman. And Saturday was spent in Dunman again at this Bbq. I shall blog when I have the time to okay? It's like. 300 over pictures in just 2 days?

So I shall see ya all around, and watch the site meter! It's getting close to 1000 already! Yay!

Dead Man's Chest

Aye! We watched the second instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean on Friday after school. It was such a blast, and I was sitting between dear Prasanna and Karen, and we laughed till we were gonna die. Taariq, Hector, Wan Ting, Ain and Kenneth were with us. I'm sure they enjoyed themselves too! I think the movie is such a witty blend of comedy, horror, gore, mystery, romance and action! I felt that this one was better than the first one, 'cos the first one had the lame corny jokes in almost every scene that Johnny Depp was in, but in this one, even Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley join in the humour! This Dead Man's Chest also had a great share of super-hilarious moments. The slapstick and humour just kept coming and coming, I couldn't resist it man. Orlando Bloom was cool, Johnny Depp was cooler, Keira Knightley was the coolest! Somehow I think this 2nd instalment showed less of Johnny Depp and his dialogue was less, but loved his 4 pairs of painted eyes, yes, one on the eyelid to confuse you, and his necklace of severed toes! Ew!

Oh and the scenery they had were stunning. I don't mind watching the show again, but I guess I'd ask Mum to get it for me when she goes to Thailand next week. For those who haven't watched it, I won't spoil it for you, but I'm telling you, its worth it to stay on till the very end of the credits. I'm warning you, I'm sure you don't wanna miss out right.

Haha. I sense many people coming to kill me after this. Just stay, lah.

I still have this unsettling feeling after watching the movie! Its like I don't know whatever hell has happened to __ _ and I must wait till like May 2007 (or later) for the next release! Gah!

Anyways, this 2nd movie mentioned Singapore, this time making it even more obvious and pronounced, unlike the first movie, when Captain Jack Sparrow mumbled. Well, high chances that 3rd movie would actually show more of why they keep mentioning Singapore. I've done my research, and it tells me that the cool trio would be traversing to The Orient in the 3rd movie! Good stuff! I can't wait!

Victorious!

I beat Taariq and Prasanna at Battleships today!

Finally, we concluded our game after like 2 days at it. It was a really close game, and tomorrow we'd be embarking on Round 2 with Hafeez as our 4th player. Bigger grid, more ships, I can't wait!

Speaking 'bout ships, we're watching Pirates of the Caribbe
an: Dead Man's Chest this Friday! I can't wait too, because I feel the cast are cool, but I was kinda put off by that monster-face thingy I saw on the trailer. Would it be too fake? I felt that the first Pirates was really realistic and natural though...

Here's Karen trying to eat the Esplanade,

And I trying to lick the Esplanade, but to no avail, so I licked some trees instead!

Haha! Just some fooling around last Saturday over at Marina!
We were just discussing why the Esplanade resembles some bug-eyed thingamajig. Any significance? Taariq mentioned that it was initially supposed to be flat-domed. But the sunlight would come in right.... So they added the 'spikes', the reflective glass panes to keep out the sun...
Esplanade is also dubbed 'the durian' by us imaginative souls, and why do I keep smelling durians in my house? The same thing happened again, but this time it was in the hall. I sit in the hall and some durian aroma would waft in through the windows ... must be those people downstairs I guess.

And I open the fridge and the entire fridge has a heavy durian smell. It turned out that Mum just bought like durian puffs. I had some, but I'm not a fan of durian anymore, I don't know why. I was such a durian fanatic when I was little. Now, whenever I smell it, it just makes me not want to eat it anymore... It's not overpowering or disgusting for me... It's just not as delicious anymore. Weird, uh?

Sigh. So its true that the durian season is here huh? Gosh I hope my parents don't drag me out for a durian feast. No please....

Quips, Quotes and Quibbles #006

Some things I've learnt today:
  • I get weird stares at the bus stop from some people from that school, causing me to worry if there was really anything wrong with my appearence. Was I that hideous?
  • Girls in my class go for boys in other classes.
  • Boys in my class go for older women, as a matter of fact.
  • Kway Chap is really my favourite food thats sold in the canteen. Tuesdays & Thursdays only.
  • Wafts of durian aroma keep emanating from outside my window. I think its the people upstairs.
  • I'm definitely bigger than you! I'm bigger, lah! sounds totally wrong when he says it.
  • I actually can't stand too many tomatoes. Mel tried to kill me with tomatoes-overload this morning with the sandwich she made for me!
  • There were like a dozen giggly children outside my room just now while I was trying to get some sleep. It turned out that there were only three.
  • Playing D.I.Y. Battleships in between lessons is the smartest idea ever
  • Being nominated for the Courteous Student Award is like the funniest thing that has happened to me. It's kinda. Cheesy.

Challenge Briefing

Saturday morning was spent at the Challenge Briefing at City Hall.
We got there just in time, and the queue had already formed by then. After the necessary registration procedures, we collected the stuff they gave us and proceeded to the auditorium for the proper Briefing.

Here's Ain and Taariq looking all engrossed and serious.

Well the Briefing was pretty quick I think, time seemed to pass really quickly. It ended at 10am, which was rather early though. We were all completely thrilled about this race, yet we felt kinda discouraged looking at our competition. There would be a total of 98 students teams taking part in this race, and we're one of them. Many of these teams come from teritiary institutions, which is incredibly freaky 'cos they've got both the brains and the brawns.

The four of us then headed off to Marina Square's Macs to study. And to strategise for the Challenge earlier too.

When we got there, we did some planning and all, and crapped a lot, and then we did our work, and resulted in taking lotsa crappy photos in the end. We were playing around with the Coupling function on Karen's camera, so here's something we tried out.

Double pen: Dark brown and blue ink at the same time!

Seeing double
Group photo! Too bad the table part didn't fit properly!

After spending too much time at Macs, we adjourned to the very huge food court 'cos we wanted to get some proper lunch. Macs was beginning to make me feel queasy, I don't know why. The food court was fantastic, we sat outdoors where we had a view, and we continued our photo frenzy. Both Karen and I took lotsa shots, which I will post up here slowly in the days to come when I have the time and patience to arrange them. Had a couple of nice shots of the scene that day. Of Karen and Ain and Taariq.

Here's my lunch. I was trying to take a shot from an angle that'll look like it was from a cookbook. And the one after is Karen's Ramen. Ah.. its making me hungry now as I look at it.

We lazed around at the foodcourt 'cos the setting was really comfortable, and the wind was in our hair and we felt really tired after all that eating. And then we continued to take more shots of each other before we left for the arcade! Along the way we went into shops and looked around, and then we finally ended up at the arcade, where we played the Jurassic Park shooting game. We died a couple of times and we kept pushing in more coins to continue. Haha, what losers we are.

We kept freaking out inside the tiny space that the four of us squeezed into, and Karen was shrieking away 'cos the dinosaurs were really scary. Plus the superb sound effects blasting in your ears. It was great fun.

Yeah, as promised I'd post up the shots up here in the following few days. I really have to go turn in now 'cos I have school tomorrow and I'm not as lucky as some of you idiots who have the privilege of starting school later (or not having school at all, kephy) 'cos of the World Cup Finals. What the hell man. I wanna watch so badly too!

Okay, so you idiots enjoy the last match, and don't come bragging about it to me tomorrow alright? Stay tuned for more shots!

Thoughts running amok

Sometimes I have nonsensical thoughts running through my head.

They come in the form of phrases, not poetic, but b
outs of blurry statements that scream something different every other time. Just that day, I had this vague expression, Screams paedophile, in my head after I saw something. I forgot what it was lah, but I guess it gave me a really strong impression and a thinking platform 'cos its still in my head right now.

Sometimes I feel the urge to scribble down these rubbish words that constantly pop out of my mind. I even thought of collating an entire notebook
of these weird thoughts that float around me for me to reflect and think even more. Then I start thinking of how it affects and relates to my life, people's lives, life as a separate entity, and what not. Its starting to get me worried again.

I sound like some neurotic old fool again! Maybe its just my character, that I am far too analytical. When I don't have to think that much, I actually do and end up wasting lots of brain power on some minute shit. Then I go on ranting and ra
nting all about it once again...

*

Prasanna and I have been having too much fun nowada
ys. As in, we're just partners-in-crime wherever we go, concocting zany ideas that make us reel in laughter. We've got this French Maid thing going on between us, I think we derived it from some France soccer thingy after they beat Portugal at the semi-finals. And then we called each other French Maid in class and all.

For those still in the dark, this is what we call a French M
aid,

Okay. I know, thats a French Maid Dog. Not exactly the authentic French Maid, but still. I ran "French Maid" on Google's image search. The pics are all too racy/raunchy/revealing, save for this doggy one, thats why I settled for this.

Let me find one that won't land me into any trouble for posting it up here. Oh, Karen's just given me a link, lets see what it is.
Yes, its suitable!
French Maid, at your service.

See, I told you its suitable! It's a cartoon!

Dinner at Swensens

This happened last Sunday!
I know, I've been really too busy to do much with my blog. Anyways, Sunday night we had a little dinner gathering over at Swensens with the LTC Main Commit
tee people. I really enjoyed myself, though there was a tad too much of cam whoring, but I'm sure everybody was proud/embaressed of themselves at some point or another. Nevertheless, we had great company!

And there were many jokes on Prasanna, for her 'difference', but its all in good fun! And I know Pras likes the attention we're giving her! Here are some pics we took that night for your viewing pleasure.

We don't know that guy in the army uniform.
He just came into the picture when
we shot it.
And then he disappeared instantly!

Last Sunday was also Wei Xin's Birthday! Pras, Karen and I bought her a cake to surprise her while we 'went to the toilet'. All the best to Wei Xin in her upcoming endeavours!

It's really good to be able to maintain this sorta relationship with the alumni from your school. I think these are the memorable moments that we'd always reminisce in the years to come, and these are the people who've made so much difference in our secondary school days. Very soon, we'd become part of the alumni when we eventually graduate (in a freaking short period of 5 months or so) and we'd want to hang out with the generations we've left behind too.

I think its really true. Let's hope we maintain these bonds with these people for as long as we possibly can.

Check this out

I learned a new term in school today. It's called Happy Slapping.

Being rather self-explanatory, I don't think I'd have to say much. Just go check these videos out at kennysia.com. I haven't had the time to go look at them, so you should really go check them out right now and decide for yourself what's your take on these happenings. Think there's a special uncut version of the Happy Slapping vid somewhere if you scroll down.

Should we allow these things to happen?

Good Ol' Blogging

I've just realised that there is a whole lot of hype going on about online misdeeds ever since it was brought up this morning. Of course, chills run up my spine as I think to myself: Have I offended anyone through my blog? Well the fact is I haven't, unless you wanna consider Prasanna my victim! Gah, there's so much talk about all this freedom of expression that it'll fast become an obsession, it's kinda nuts really.

At least I know that what I'm doing is morally right. And I don't have to be making mistakes outa this once-harmless-yet-engaging-activity. Note the word I used: once. Well, blogging is not so much of a free-and-easy, do-whatever-you-wish thing anymore. Its increasingly being more fenced up and watched by the public for sensitive issues that might be raised. Besides all that legal talk, I think its really up to you in the end. No one's stopping you; you know the boundaries.

Well, whatever it was didn't stop me from writing in my 4 pages worth of comments in my journal entry this morning. Sigh. Maybe its just too sensitive to be probed any further? You decide.

And due to these hairy situations, I've indirectly become a 'victim'. Miss Yan Ping adoringly labels me as Wank in her blog now, for safeguarding purposes and what not. Oh shite, am I not supposed to be saying her name out loud here? But she called me Wank! Though I know my surname sounds mysteriously like Wank, it is not spelt this way!

It's W.A.N.G., not anything that sounds so bloody wrong!

Haha! All in good humour lah, so I shan't defame Yan Ping in my blog. Oh - but I've already defamed dear Prassie - all in good humour again. Haha!

Sigh. We should all loosen up and leave the crap to the culprits who choose to publish the sensitive material. And please, do let us enjoy blogging once again. It shouldn't become a bane!

Cheers!

Position 78

Dunman had our annual Cross Country yesterday, which was Saturday. I went into it thinking that I'd waste my time there walking the entire stretchand giving up, but I don't know how and why I ended up running instead!

I thought that this time it wasn't as bad as when I took part in Sec 1, when everything was too overwhelming for me and it was really tough. This time, it was over really quick and I came in at position 78 for the upper sec boys. (As compared to position 100++ 3 years ago!) Not bad for someone like me okay!

Yeah and after that we hung around till everyone came back. There were many who chose to stroll though. Then they had prize presentation ceremony and I sat with Hidayah and Taariq, baking ourselves under the scorching sun.

After the event ended, Karen, Mel, Taariq and I went for lunch and Mel lost her phone. Sigh. Karen was just saying that its a curse 'cos she just lost her phone too. I think the next person to be jinxed is me.

I went home after that, having only enough time to bathe and change and head out again for tuition with Mel. Today was the first lesson with Mrs Fong's son, Yi Shuen. Mel and I can see that he's a really jolly person, like the happy-go-lucky kind, kinda like Mrs Fong herself. He was really friendly, so that was good.

I headed home after that and peng-ed on my bed. Slept 3 hours straight till 9pm and had dinner with Mum. The cross country fatigue was finally setting in for me and my body was aching all over.

Oh and I forgot to say, that I think the number '78' is like kinda coincidental for me. 'Cos my level position for Mids is 78, so yeah. It's 78 again for me. Haha.. Mister Edwin was just telling me that my lucky number should be '1' instead, so I'd be first in everything. Haha!

What a long Friday!

Its been one of the most hectic Fridays so far. Well, to begin with there was school as usual. And Dunman Choir had a Lunchtime Concert right after school. The groups for the choir camp talentime got to sing for their friends in school and the sec 4s also sang Stand By Me. I'm sure everyone did well, at least better than the camp itself!

It was really good to be able to sing our song properly and with no pitch problems. I really enjoyed myself too. But that is gonna be our last performance already. Like Miss Yeo said, our swan song. After the performance, I had a Chem test which I totally flunked because I was stoopid enough to keep trying one freaking tough question and neglected 2 other easy ones.

Lesson learnt.

Then after that I attended choir practice and got to see for myself how they were doing without us Sec 4s. Felt a stirring tinge of remorse, all because we had no choir practices left to attend. Its really sad to leave the choir when you've had so much fun and tears and crap over there. I mean, really, my friends and I have learnt how to be better persons throughout these 4 years. There are countless real values of life that can be learnt, contrary to the belief that choir only teaches us singing techniques and nothing else.

Speaking to Miss Yeo about this unsettling feeling, Hidayah, Jia Yu and I told her 'bout our experiences these few years and it was kinda great to have an intimate sharing session after a really hectic day. I think it did open up an avenue for reflections, and it was great to have the super energectic Miss Yeo beside us.

So we chatted with her till about 6pm. And I had the Leadership Training Camp post mortem meeting at 6:30pm, which dragged till 'bout 10pm in school. I was really tired out after that. And Karen and I went for a quick bite, reaching home at only 11 plus.

So tired man. I only slept at 2am that night and had to run for cross country the next day lah. Quite mad... I should promise myself never to attempt these feats ever again. Not good.

So that was it. My Friday was so packed. No more, please.
