CNY DAY 2.

sorry man. i wasn't able to blog last night although i really wanted to cos blogger's server was under maintanence or something.

second day of cny, mum's side of the family came over to our place for lunch and to just chill. cousins were around and as usual i had to entertain them. hahh.
little Phoebe had grown so much since the previous time i saw her during christmas. this is how adorable she looks now.

she looks even cuter when she smiles! trust me, it'll melt your heart and make you wanna squeeze her cheeks :)

and this is Jarell.. Phoebe's brother

Cheyenne and her new korean frock which i think looks damn nice!

we watched spiderman 1 and i kept eating non-stop!

here's something cool that i've just discovered this year, colourful melon seeds! so interesting lah. there's green tea, coffee, rose and lavendar flavours! it looks really nice.

Cheyenne was getting bored and she tried to look like green goblin from spiderman. and then she started to fight with Jarell, who was spiderman! lol.

spiderman ended and we played monopoly after that. we were teaching Jarell, who wanted to buy every property he landed on...

after the game i left to meet Karen, Prasanna and Taariq to head off to Melyssa's place at simei. i was walking down when Karen called and i saw this bus at the stop. i was so hoping that it wouldn't be the 38 that i was gonna hop on to meet them. but it was! i told Karen i would walk over to Mel's place and meet them there lah... but as i went down.. i suddenly thougth of running to the next bus stop to get onto the bus cos the bus was stalled at the traffic junction.
and so i did! i ran and ran and ran and got there just in time when the bus stopped. haha. they were shocked to see me. lol. but i guess the sudden running and all gave me chest pain at night. hahah. all because i was lazy to walk!

*

went Mel's house bai nian and there was a party there. got a few hongbaos. hahah. and so many funny things happened there. we had dinner. the bee hoon was good. the curry was nice. the beef stew was.... an acquired taste entirely. sorry yah, but i felt like puking..

after that it was off to Karen's house to bai nian.. where Xin Min joined us.. and then to my place.. we walked from Karen place to mine.. and along the way we took shots on the road when cars stopped at the traffic lights. so freaky. and we took shots under the tunnel too. we seemed like some mad people who got nowhere else to take photos lah... i don't know what's with the oranges though..

we hung around my place and watched abit of tv and then we played the name game till midnight in my room. hahah. the name game, its a frustrating heart-pounding game thats so so so noisy! we were screaming at each other lah.
this pic is nice x)

groupie!

one fun day :) how i wish cny would never end...

MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA.

watched memoirs of a geisha last night at the 10:15am show at GV tamp with my family. the movie was fantastic! X) i really liked the show, the part where Sayuri was learning how to become a geisha, and when she danced at the show! that was really cool, although i struggled to grasp the significance of the dance!

the scenic landscapes and the sets were really surreal and it was beautiful.
the young Sayur
i, Chiyochan was really cute!

little Pumpkin was cute too!
but she grew up to be such a slut in the end.

especially loved Mameha's character for propelling Sayuri into fame, but Michelle Yeoh couldn't pull off the Japanese accent at all. and also, didn't get to see her in her geisha garb and all! :( shame.

Hatsumomo was terrific too. although she played the vengeful, resident bitch and made everyone hate her, its hard not to sympathise with her as well in the end. she looks damn cool in this screenshot..

all in all, do catch the show. its worth the money!

*

mum's giving me her memoirs of a geisha book. that because she claims that the text is so small that she cannot read it. she's getting old. lol. and its been years since she's bought the book, yet she has only read a few chapters.

These are not memoirs of an empress...

... nor memoirs of a queen
These are memoirs of another kind...

CNY DAY 1.

woke up at around 10am today to get ready and leave house for visiting today.
first stop was Old Saints' Home over at upper serangoon road, we were gonna visit late ah gong's ashes there. when all the uncles' and their families arrived, we prayed for ah gong in silence. i thought about him since it had
been such a really long time that i've not thought about him. you know, its right to say that when someone passes away, you literally forget about the person. but the reason we visited him first thing in this new lunar new year was to commemorate him after all this while. pa always asks Cheyenne without fail when we get there,"you remember who this is?" this gave me much thought actually.. what if one died and nobody remembered? hrrrm. during the moment of silence i spoke to ah gong from the bottom of my heart, telling him how everyone was doing and how i myself was doing. i can still remember that he would ask me how i was doing when he was still alive. and the most memorable thing would be when i pushed his wheelchair around before he passed away. and i could remember the nurse telling me that i was such a good boy. that was when he was really ill and they had to put him in this centre for the aged and sick. that experience really meant a lot to me and yah, i must say, i was the only cousin who could push ah gong before he passed away. it has already been 5 quick years that ah gong has left us. i was a lucky young grandchild who was born with all 4 grandparents still around. this made me unable to imagine what some friends' situation were.. some hadn't seen their grandparents at all while i had seen all and could speak to them whenever i wanted to. this made me afraid, afraid for the fact that i didn't wanna know how it would feel like when all my grandparents were gone...
so treasure your grandparents, like how i realised that ah ma holding my hand when she saw me this morning was that meaningful.

at the place where late people's ashes are put, (i don't know what you call that place) there was this father who brought his son and daughter to visit their mum's ashes. and the kids were really small.. lower primary? this made me think even more... no mother? that would lead to many more things that i won't even dare to think of.

after that we headed to one of the uncle's houses for lunch. it was canadian pizza and LOTS OF CNY GOODIES! caleb and calvin were good hosts and they kept serving and serving us.. yes.. as usual the pig here can't resist temptations and had a lot to eat!
after that visit there it was off to our house with the rest of the relatives. they came over and we kinda slacked. watch this korean movie which made
us laugh quite abit and we continued eating! mum bought so many CNY goodies that it was simply irresistable.
little hong xun was so adorable and he kept wanting me to feed him dried mangoes!
here's how little hong xun looks like when he attempts to smil
e

he is so cute lah. the cousins were all so amused with him. they just love bullying him and taking shots of him. hah. x)

CNY EVE.

made my room up today and neatened the place. mum kept nagging it was messy and untidy for such a long time.

watched american pie band camp just now. it felt so awkward, watching it while mum and dad walked around the house. M18 movie you see, and there were several really rated scenes. hahah. but the movie had a not-bad ending that i liked, so its not just trash after all x)

evening was reunion dinner at uncle liang swee's place. tell me what a reunion is supposed to be like, man? one uncle wasn't around, for such a long time, we've not been seeing his family and him already. c'mon lah, its cny reunion lah. the aunties were all right. before long, their kids would not even recognise their cousins on the street 10 years down the road. its saddening lah ok. and to watch the uncles get so worked up cos of ONE brother. hmmm. talk about being filial man...
well i didn't mean to be so brash to this certain uncle. but really, it has been almost (if not more) 3 long years since they have literally estranged themselves from the rest of the family. i can't stand that kinda behaviour. what if every single one of the 6 brothers including my pa were like that? what family would there be left of? its cny eve, a time for reunion, no matter how difficult, no matter how faraway!

CNY REUNION OF OLD PALS.

last night i met up with some old friends from fairfield for dinner. it's really good that we make it a point to actually go out together and get to see each other a bit more. after 3 long years!

melissa, nicole, paul, joshua

i was running so late man. supposed to meet them at 7pm but ended up only meeting them at around 8:45pm cos i had to rush home from school and all.. they were already seated at billy bombers at heeren. had my prosperity fish which wasn't fantastic but was so filling! the cookies and cream shake was good. and the chunky monkey ben and jerries' scoop was good too.

after dinner we went off to take photos. the office building was already closed so we couldn't sneak in! nevertheless, we had such a great time again taking snapshots behind a glass door. lol. and doing silly antics. x)

joshua had a call; we were staring at his crotch!

hahah. what do you think this is? we suddenly recalled this damn comical action we had for aces day in fairfield. "flush, flush, boooooooot, clap, clap!" LOL MAN.

CLASS DECOR.

school went by pretty quickly today, somehow, of all days. i was counting down to school end lah. it was real boring having to wait for time to pass.
had no assembly duty! so
, finally, in my 4th school year, i got to go up to hall to sit in the air-con with the class lah. they had some total defence/racial harmony skit which was rather cliche yet entertaining in its own right.
got through that
and then we went to basement to check out the place for feb 11 family day bazaar. it was a good move on our part, cos Mrs Neo was totally for the idea to use the basement cos its the place she's been investing her money at all this while. and it was my terrific idea to make use of the basement for our haunted house! of course, its one of the spookiest spots in the school, what with all the rumours and tales going around.
we got to see the huge room which was done up nicely, the future jamming room. its REALLY BIG. and then we walked the passages
in the basement and thought of creepy ideas. Mdm Suharni was so nice, could feel her enthusiasm for us too, just like Mrs Neo.
we had so many ideas going off every
moment it was overwhelming. hahh.
right after that, we hea
ded off to class to help Karen with class decor. Ting, Ain and myself worked on the doorway and windows while Taariq, Karen and Mel did the class motto. here are the pictures.. our hard work!

cny decorations spilled out to the corridor

is it a 4? or is it an A? its 4A at the same time!

it was supposed to be a tree (according to Ting) but then her folded hongbaos started to resemble pencils.. and then towards the end we thought it looked like a giant sperm. in the end, we decided that it would be a dragon, alright. lol.

SUCCESS IS NOT A DESTINATION, IT'S A JOURNEY.
and yes, we have a macdonald them
e for the class. hahah. :D

Ain, someone i fondly refer to as Ah Ying. LOL man. that was the chinese name i gave her last year. and she said it didn't matter what it sounded like. Ting said it sounded like some maid's name. i begged to differ.. hey! it means EAGLE ok. x)

i currently have some problems uploading anymore photos up here! i have no idea why. there's no quota what. nvm, i shall post up cute shots next time.

have a wonderful chinese new year!

BIRTHDAY.

i'm 16 now! gosh, i actually feel really really old right now. its like so weird, that feeling of being somewhere in between. old or young?

anyways i spent my 16th birthday with my family. woke up in the morning and the very first thing i did was homework. call me hardworking :) bahh. haha.
we went to marina square for shopping. omg. can't believe it lah. its like THREE DAYS IN A ROW AT MARINA SQUARE! madness man. Grandma, Aunt Joanne, Joey, Cheyenne, Dad, Mum and i went together. Dad bought lots of stuff.. working shirts and all that. and Mum, Aunt Joanne and Grandma each bought a polo from Fila. the colours were really nice. i wanted the light blue polo but they didn't have the shade i wanted in the men's fit. so too bad lah. Joey bought a cap from fox, and the cap was damn nice. i was still searching for pants lah. in the end, mum bought me a pair of levi's 501! hahah. yay! x) wanted to get this earth colour shirt too, but they didn't have da size for me.
that night we had Sakae Sushi. the one at marina has the traditional tatami style sitting table. but just that you stick your legs in the big hole at the bottom of the table. food was grrrreat! :) jap food just pleases me so. :D had lots of sushi and all that. after that we went for swensens. cos i could get a free ice-cream on my birthday. and the rest had a coit tower. i tried the orange ice-cream. which was rather tasty and real sweet.
so that was how i spent my 16th birthday!
happiest boy on earth now XD

CELEBRATE.

this was how i spent my saturday celebrating my birthday with friends!
at first i m
et up with Karen and Taariq at city hall at 1:30pm. they were so late lor.. only appeared at 2pm. hahah. Karen said she was coming from paya lebar, and Taariq said he was coming from home. i believed them at first. we went back down to take a train to redhill. we were waiting for bus 33 when Eirene appeared out of nowhere. so then we went down to IKEA first cos i needed to get rounded bottles. bought 32 of those bottles and one costs only about $1! definitely less than what i thought. bought them for the feb 11 family day in school, for making snowglobes that council store is gonna sell. we walked round IKEA and then after that it was to queensway shopping centre. they had stuff to get.
went back to redhill mrt after that and Karen, Taariq and i went to meet Wan Ting over at city hall. Eirene had to leave us for church. :(

Karen was wearing her favourite bra under her see through white shirt. nyaha. and a kinda long denim skirt! why? cos her aunty say queensway got a lot of cheekopeks! so cannot wear short skirt! LOL man.

so then the rest of us went to cineleisure hoping to catch the lime*scape flea market there but due to the wet weather and stuff, lotsa stalls weren't even opened lah. sad case. so we walked inside cineleisure. went to the arcade but didn't play. we watched this guy on the para para machine instead. i tell you. he had these slinky moves, like michael jackson - not! it was torturous for me. so so so so torturous, really. and he had somthing going on with that cap on his head. which he kept spinning around, on his head. and he kept removing it and putting it back on. c'mon, this is so NOT the meaning of cool lah. man.. there was even a crowd forming to watch him. doesn't he feel least out of place?

after cine taariq had to go. so Wan Ting, Karen and i met up with Melyssa, who was busy studying the whole day, for dinner!
we decided on carl'
s junior at marina!

I TELL YOU.
we totally underestimated this photo we were sitting right under. we had no freaking idea it was serious. we took it too lightly! urgh. you'll see what i mean later int he p
ics...
haha. the burgers there are humongous, and really good. we were so full right after that.

this was the burger i had. there were onion rings and bacon inside. and your regular beaf patty. damn nice!

this one's the low-carb famous star that Mel and Karen had. instead of the sesame buns, you get low-carb cabbage leaves as your buns! damn cool right. but it was leaky. there was so much water mixed with the dressing. haha. it got REALLY messy. this was how Karen looked throughout the entire ordeal, complete with a serviette stuffed down her cleavage!

for almost the entire time we spent there, Wan Ting and Karen got into a little squabble! haha. it was so comical lah, they all. and Melyssa went so trigger happy, she took a total of 126+ photos of the both of them and their crazy antics! it all started with the cleavage thing, and then them flicking zappel at each others faces. Mel and i were laughing like mad.
you cannot imag
ine how messy it was ok.. trying to eat and then playing at the same time. we used up THE ENTIRE BOX OF SERVIETTES they provided there at the table. nyahahahahaa..

mountains of serviettes. note that the box of serviette wasn't empty yet.

after dinner. those 3 idiots gave me a h
uge surprise! they misled and then led me into swensens where we had an earthquake! hahah. and present time! they gave me a little pluto dog toy thing. and made me think that was all i was gonna get for my birthday, but on the way home. i noticed the box was noticeably heavier. and yes indeed, there was a FRESHBOX TEE inside! omg lah. i almost went mad when i realised. ahha. love the tee.
haha. and that karen ah. took advantage of the op
purtunity and gave me a peck on my neck. haha. neck?! LOL. i felt violated and shy. like how Mel gave me a peck during new years day! hahah. ohyah, and at the start of the day, Taariq and Karen were late cos they went shopping for my present! haha. sweet!

TH
ANKS FOR THE SURPRISES, THE PRESENTS, THE GOOD COMPANY!
i love all of you x)

VIVACE II.

after the concert, we walked all the way past the river hongbao thingy which was still under construction at esplanade park (the park opp esplanade theatres)

then we crossed the road over to esplanade. which was rather freaky. had some fun at esplanade taking pictures with the curtains thingy.. Shing made me a flower with him! so cute lah. hahah.

and these crazy people peeking from the holey cloth..

Inez and i x)

then we walked on to marina square via citylink for dinner. we were starving! i didn't even have any lunch after school lar... and late dinner. so we had macs cos its been quite a long time already. and everything else was closed at that hour.
