New Year's Eve celebration was fun. We spent our countdown over at the
Singapore Art Museum, where there was a spectacular display of pyrotechnics, but damn! We missed the Marina Bay fireworks which could be seen from outside the Art Musuem right after the countdown! I was with Karen, Edwin, Pei Wen and Taariq, and Mum was there too with my sister and Joey's family. It was only after everything that she told me that we'd missed the fireworks, which was such a shame lah.
After that, we decided to head down to
Downtown East to check out the party. We got there at like 2am and I was so disappointed to see the
entire tent filled with Bengsons, Alianas, Amuds and Aminahs. It was like as if the entire population of these people decided to congregate at Downtown East.
Everywhere you looked, you'd see one of them. Yes, it was that bad.
And I almost got followed home and beaten up by these people who recognised me from Christmas Eve's experience on the train. I don't think I should say it here, so ask me if you will. But it was worrying when like eight, nine people started to stare at me and threaten me from a distance. We seriously thought that they were gonna wait for us at the exits...
I began to wonder why we even went there lah. Maybe we should have gone to better places. We could have checked out Chijmes (they were having a party at their lawn), or even Orchard's Cineleisure even though we knew a snow storm was raging there. That would've spared us the encounter with the gang of fucking lowlifes, and also an hour of looking at everyone else dance para para. (weird butterfly hand movements and lots of twisting wrists)
We hung out at Macs after that, all the way till about 6am before we headed home. And I finally got to sleep at 8am, only waking up at 3pm later that afternoon.
