Superband and The Ugly Singaporean

It's been a truly hectic week at school, what with extra lessons everyday. On Monday and Tuesday, I finally realised that not eating at the canteen during recess is not that bad after all. I would not die from starvation like I'd thought earlier. In fact, not eating would save me time and money, and I'd have time off to complete undone, overdue homework.

But time seems to pass so fast in the classroom. It's like before you know it, its back to classes again. I guess it's just due to the fact that there weren't any changes in landscape (meaning I didn't get up from my seat), and all I could really see was the scalp of the person in front of me.

And I noticed the picnic that would take place in class during recess time. Buns, sandwiches, cookies, what have you, would litter the classroom desks. People would eat, contentedly, as if their work was haunting them the whole while.

Well, its just what I've noticed. Its mundane I know, but i can't find anything much to really blog about. I asked Karen for suggestions for blog topics, and she asked me to write about "The Shoe". Rather random.

Oh and I forgot to mention, last Saturday I was at Big Jam at Suntec! Supporting Xin Min, rising starlet, soon-to-be overnight celebrity... She gave us Audience Passes, which plonked us on the very very front, closest to the stage. Yes, and we were made to cheer for her a la 5566 and F4 wannabes and groupies. It was maddening. The way people can scream and cheer, the way people can blow their whistles. And yes, I got my ears blown too.

And I truly got to see the ugly Singaporean. While we were waiting for the show to start, some inconsiderate, unkind people decided to plant their asses down on the floor, when everyone else were packed like sardines, standing up! And one certain Auntie could even stretch out her legs! Despite very obvious and frank remarks from us, particularly me, they still had their asses glued to the ground! Like hello!?!? People are finding it hard to breathe, let alone stand, and you're just gonna watch us from down there? Very rude, very kiasu behaviour, very typically Singaporean.

And the whole while, we watched as despotic Ah Lians and Ah Huays reached out to grab any charming guy singing on stage. And when they eventually got to, they would turn to their friends and smirk. Truly gross behaviour exhibited, I just couldn't help it. Initially I wanted to defame the abovementioned offenders by posting their photos up here, but count them lucky this time, cause Karen can't upload the shots. I guess they're all just trying too hard.

We stayed throughout the entire performance of all 18 bands. Some were good, as if they've been doing that for their entire life, while some basically sucked. Xin Min was part of Glamours, the only 5-girl girl band of the lot. They were good, I hope they get through to the next round.

Karen's got all the pictures we took there on that very day. There was Karilynn, Annabelle, Jia Yi, Adeline, Melyssa and Taariq. And although standing for 2 hours plus was a killer, we survived and had a smashing great time!

The Last Party

Last weekend, the Sec 3s organized a day's fun at East Coast Park. It was a Party thing to sorta welcome the newly-invested little ones and also give us a Farewell. Unfortunately, only a handful of Sec 4s turned up, and no alumni were there at all. Didn't know why, but whatever it was, the food was good!

So initially there was only Georgiana, Jia Yu and Tanest around. So we like formed our own little Sec 4 team and went for the Amazing Race game thing.

We were tired with all that walking, and taking photos helped past the time, and the boredom.

That was us at 7-11, where we went to get our Slurpee Floats (which we concocted ourselves) after deciding that we'd not take part in the Race thing anymore because 1) my foot had a cut and it was searing, and 2) we were all feeling crappy and lethargic.

And so, Taariq came along, and we went off to build sandcastles cos we weren't really told what to do. I guess this sandcastle meant quite a bit to us - like it meant something - and represented the Council lah. Truly, we haven't been blessed with fantastic seniors and the list goes on.

Would the mighty fortress withstand the pains inflicted by the past and even the future?

Noone knows what the future holds, I guess.

And then the buffet table arrived and got set up. After washing hands we ate like pigs. And its all because of that, I forgot to snap any shots of the buffet spread! It was GOOD.

The amount of leftover food was alarming. Haha. Nah. It was too much actually, although I tried my best to stuff myself. The chocolate eclairs were FANTASTIC. They were so good I couldn't get enough of them. There was also fried beehoon, lemon chicken, springrolls, fishballs, fish fillet and some almond cocktail thing.

And then the fun started. We had to finish the food, so the juniors came up with games which the forfeit for losing would be to eat an item. Starting from only like what, 5 people. The circle expanded to include bout 20 of us. Seniors, juniors, everyone.

It was fun and we changed several games, but all of them had forfeits which made you eat something from the buffet spread. We had Wan Ting as the Extra Waitress. Damn funny. But she did such a great job at that - maybe she should consider as a future career path?

So after all that fun, it was time to pack up and leave. Managed to take some shots with the juniors. Real enthusiastic people packed with so much to offer. Yay! Haha.

Slices of Singapore Life...

Part of Speech: noun
Definition: desire
Synonyms: ambition, aspiration, coveting, craving, hankering, hots, hunger, hungering, itch, lech, longing, pining, sweet tooth, thirst, urge, wish, yen, zazzle

The following shots depict the different "yearns" that we see and face as we go about our everyday lives. But frankly, do we really notice them?

And Dad Turns 48...

Yesterday was Dad's Birthday.

I've since editted this post because Blogger's irritating me with its Font Errors and what not. It's getting all my Fonts wrong, and ugly.

Dad didn't really spend his Birthday with us, and there was no real celebration or anything of that sort. He went golfing! And today, he left for Bangkok with a couple of friends to golf, again! That was his Birthday gift for himself I guess.

He'd only be back on Saturday. And I have asked him to buy a Thai Coke Bottle for me. The original authentic kind. My collection's slowly building up :) And several cans of the Coke I kept exploded or something, and Uncle Kit suggested punching holes at the bottom to drain out all the Coke, which Mum did for me last weekend. We wasted A LOT of Coke. But seriously we do not want our cabinets to be flooded with Coke again!

Everyone's going for holidays. And I'm not.

Mum and Cheyenne returned from Phuket last Saturday, all sunburnt and glowing. Their trip turned out to be terrific, I heard. And yes! Mum managed to get all the movie titles I wanted! Great! Now we can watch Date Movie and throw a party this Saturday!

I want a holiday. I need a holiday, badly.

I really want to visit India, Nepal, South Africa, Mongolia, Japan, the Maldives, France, and the 8days travel feature on Melbourne looked so tantalising! I wanna go to Melbourne, again!

Sigh. Holidays are not really possible for me anytime soon though. Maybe come this December...?

This Friday night is Meet the Parents for Sec Fours. Yes, I'm so screwed already. But I spoke to Mum just now bout results and all. And she seems pretty cool about it all. :)

Let's hope its not as bad as it is.

Brokeback Mountain - Watched!

Last Friday, we met up at our place to catch Brokeback Mountain together. Taariq managed to get hold of the dvd! Can you imagine how excited we all were?

There was Karen, Melyssa, Prasanna, Xin Min, Taariq and myself. Pras and I had wanted to watch the show quite badly but we couldn't due to the
R21 rating at the cinemas. But here we are, finally watching the show!

The scenery of the mountains and all that were nice, but we all agreed the movie wasn't
that R21 after all. So what was the big hoo-haa? Okay movie, I guess. Not as exciting as we all thought it'd be though.

Check this super lame remake, Brokeback to the Future that Karen doesn't understand initially, at YouTube Videos!

Friday night we went to school together for English night study. Mrs Neo did sample essays and all that, and it was a surprisingly relaxed session.

We tried to pull a Brokeback "I wish I knew how to quit you" on Ms Yew, but she didn't get us in the first place! What fun x)

Night Owl Eatery

After the band concert, we took more shots and walked all the way to Clarke Quay MRT Station, where we finally decided to take a train down to Bugis to look for food.

Initially we thought that if nothing else was open at Bugis Stre
et, we'd have McDonalds to fall back on, but nope - the Macs there was not 24 hours! And so we walked on and found this place which opens till 5am. Its a bright and clean place in a block of shophouse on Liang Seah Street right opposite the Mos Burger at Bugis Junction, serving Taiwanese food and stuff like Beef Noodles.

It was already close to midnight when we settled there. Didn't manage to have time for dinner before the concert because we were running late and the girls were preparing for eons. So yah, our stomachs were growling like shit.

I had the Braised Pork Rice. So yummy. (but I've got trouble flipping the shot)

Wan Ting had the Beef Noodles, Karen had this Tofu thing which was delicious too, and Taariq just had his Big Gulp.

The Freezes they had there were really good. We had Peach, Banana and Red Bean. My favourite was Wan Ting's Red Bean Freeze. (not pictured)

The pricing of food items there are affordable considering the location and the timing they are open at. Do go there for supper if you happen to be in search of a midnight haunt!

Serenata - Band Concert

Life's a rush. This was us zipping down to town in the cab after finally picking up Wan Ting and Karen. Karen was putting some shimmer lotion on herself on the way. The traffic was fairly heavy, but we managed to get to Victoria Concert Hall in time!

Lotsa shots were taken, but the lighting in the concert hall wasn't exactly good for photo-taking. But i managed to find these which are not bad-looking :) The following shots are us gallivanting after the concert along the river...

A Rainy Beach Day

Yep, it's already like Thursday morning, and I'm still blogging about last Saturday's little ruined trip to the beach.

This is to get it off my back once and for all. I'm so sure more things are gonna come my way this week, and i'm not abandoning old stuff to blog about the new stuff. Its just wrong, I guess.

Multiply's Photo Gallery is seriously getting on my nerves. It's Java-enabled now, I dunno for what reason. And I'm telling you, its making life extremely difficult for me. I've been trying to upload all the East Coast Park shots up there for you to see, and it's not cooperating with me!

Apart from feeling pissed with stupid programmes on the computer, I've been going to school every single day and feeling lethargic. I dunno if its the accumulated lack-of-sleep or what, but I get so tired though school starts later during the holidays.

Yeah and about last Saturday, we met to catch the first bus to East Coast from Bedok Interchange. "We" consists of the 3 no-life people, namely Taariq, Karen and myself. It seems like everyone elses life is so eventful, and their so busy with their things that they don't have time to just chill. We, for that matter, resort to each others company and basking in
each other's attention to kill time. Nolah, we were going to go out together and have fun!

Along the bus ride, Taariq was blowing up his huge gigantic beach ball (featured in my previous entry) It was so BIG! I was so amused by it, and him trying his best to blow it up on the bus was so funny. Of course, people stared lah, cos they hadn't seen such a big ball in their life before. How interesting, uh? *rolls eyes* Armed with our beach-going paraphernalia and our beach attire, we traipsed towards the seashore with bags containing mats, hammocks, snacks among other things.

Looking for a good spot to plant our asses turned out to be quite tiring, cos bags were heavy and stomachs were churning away at nothing. Then suddenly there was a change of plan to head over to Macs first for a bite before we actually settled down. Over a
t Macs, we had a quick lunch and then we finally went on to settle down. First we bounced and threw the big ball (finally finished blowing) around, and then we made that story, which I found rather cute and special. Then, Taariq and Karen went to set up the hammock while I became a bookworm and got all absorbed in my Memoirs Of A Geisha. Ahhh. Enjoyed life for a moment there. Its good to go to the beach and just hang out once a while I guess, and let the waves wash your worries away! Nyaha. I love the beach!

And then Melyssa appeared! And she wanted to go blading, but the sky suddenly became overcast. Saddening lah. We took pictures until the little raindrops came down on us. Gahhhhh, that was when I started to get pissed with the weather. It was just so sunny a moment ago! But heck, we had to pack up (hammock, mat and all) and run for shelter!!! We took shelter at the underground tunnel leading to the HDB flats across (Block 18, where I used to reside!) and started deflating the beach balls. Then we had to run across thru the flats to get to the bus stop. And so we did, and got drenched.

We finally got to this void deck and just waited there for awhile, hoping that the rain would stop or something. Then, Karen and I decided to go play in the rain! And so we did! And got drenched! We took photos. It was so much fun, I tell you. Then Taariq jo
ined us, and the rain got heavier anyway.

After all that, we made our way across to the bus stop (although the rain hadn't become any smaller) Along the way, this old lady called me "Uncle" and I was like, is she calling me? But nevertheless, guess what, she needed help to go down the steps without slipping and possibly falling. Well, being the good samaritan that I was and always will be, helped her down, although it was raining down heavily on me and heaven was showing no mercy... But guess what? I felt good about it, most importantly, despite getting my underwear wet cos the rain soaked through, and being called an "Uncle" by an "Auntie"... haha...

It's always good to help someone who needs help isn't it? I know its cliche, the entire hullabaloo about helping old ladies cross the road and stuff. But I've
actually frankly come to realise, it can happen!

Ok so we waited for the bus, all drenched and wet, feeling cold and made our way down to Parkway Parade. We walked around, they've got new shops there, and we had Four Leaves bread. Yeah, and then we headed home lah after that.

Real fun day with lotsa great times. Day at the beach gone wrong. But sadly, the photos can't be uploaded! HMM! I'd try my best to get it up on Multiply within this week then. If not, I'll forget about it entirely. Sickening thing.

Anyways, here's a shot :)

A Story to Share

A sudden stroke of genius and some inspiration from the tranquility of the seashore was all it took to trigger this zany idea of illustrating a story through a certain Nikon camera. Sit back, fold your arms, and relax as the wonderful tale of the Beach ball unfolds before your very eyes...

*
It was a regular Saturday afternoon. The beach was at its sunniest best and the tides came in low. In the middle of nowhere, and in the vast stretches of treacherous sand dunes and pyramids lay......
There was not a single soul around the ball. It lay motionless, unperturbed by all the movements in its surroundings. Did it belong to someone? Out of the blue, a curious beach bum, Taariq, spotted the Beach ball. Boy was he amazed when he noticed how huge the ball was...

Karen
, a beach-comber, spotted the ball from the corner of her eye. She was so amazed by its size too!
Karen clearly wants possession of the ball! She obviously can't wait to lay her hands on it... But will Taariq be kind enough?
Both wanted the Beach ball so badly, they ended up fighting for it!

Poor ball. It ended up being thrown into the air!

Let's see who managed to get it first. Will it be Karen, or Taariq?

But no! A certain Andre caught it instead! He wanted to play too! Where did he pop out from?

Andre then tried to escape, but Taariq came after him, hot on his heels!

He caught up with Andre, and there was a mini Tug-o-War between them both! Poor ball, yet again.

But... Taariq got bummed out unfortunately! It must've hurt terribly for him :(

Andre's victory left no time for celebration, for it was short-lived when Karen came forth for revenge!

Who told them to fight for the ball in the first place??? Yes kids, sharing would ultimately be the best solution, just like what Taariq and Karen have done here.
