We went down to the Esplanade that day to catch the fireworks, and we weren't early actually. We got there at around 8pm and the entire stretch of space along the harbour was filled with typically kiasu Singaporeans who've been there like since 5pm? They laid their mats and waited patiently for the fireworks show to commence. Because the entire place was crowded and really starting to fill up, we quickly sought a clearing and settled there. Settled, as in, stand there and not move in case people blocked us or anything. We were at the line where people stopped sitting down, so it was quite a good view without having to breathe down the necks of hairy uncles or smell the body odour of hairy aunties.
